Where can you listen?

Sing, goddess, the wrath of Achilles.

For nine long years, the armies of Greece have besieged the walls of Troy. But when a bitter quarrel erupts between King Agamemnon and Achilles, the greatest of all warriors, rage threatens to destroy the Greeks from within. As Achilles withdraws from battle, the tide of war turns – and gods and mortals alike are drawn into a conflict where honor demands blood, and glory comes at a terrible price.

Homer's Iliad stands at the very beginning of Western literature: a monumental epic of war, pride, grief, and the fleeting nature of human life. From the duel of Paris and Menelaus to the death of Hector before the gates of Troy, its scenes have echoed through three millennia – and lost none of their power.

This audiobook presents Samuel Butler's celebrated prose translation, prized for its clarity and directness, which renders the ancient epic vivid and accessible to the modern listener.

A timeless story of anger and reconciliation, fate and free will – and of what it truly costs to be remembered forever.
