From the fertile plains of Java to the spice-rich Moluccas, the Indonesian archipelago has been a crossroads of civilizations, empires, and faiths for millennia. This show, hosted by Lucas and Luna, traces the full arc of Indonesia's history—from the rise of Hindu-Buddhist kingdoms like Srivijaya and Majapahit to the spread of Islam, the brutal Dutch East India Company monopoly, and the revolutionary struggle for independence. We explore the construction of Borobudur, the volcanic eruptions that shaped both landscape and cosmology, the spice trade that drew European colonizers, and the role of figures like Sukarno, Hatta, and Diponegoro. We delve into debates over the 'Unity in Diversity' motto, the 1965 mass killings, the New Order regime, and the ongoing challenge of defining a national identity across thousands of islands. Each episode focuses on a specific moment or theme—whether the Borobudur sailendra dynasty, the Aceh sultanate, the Java War, or the 1998 reform movement—to understand how Indonesia became the world's fourth most populous nation and what its history means for its future. This is a story of trade winds, volcanic ash, and human resilience.#FexingoHistory #History #WorldHistory #Podcast #Indonesia #IndonesianHistory #SoutheastAsia #Srivijaya #Majapahit #Borobudur #SpiceTrade #DutchColonialism #Sukarno #IndependenceDay #NewOrder #Aceh #VolcanicArchipelago #UnityInDiversityKeep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
