Where can you listen?

From the ancient kingdom of D'mt to the Solomonic dynasty, Ethiopia's history is a saga of resilience, faith, and independence. Lucas and Luna explore the Aksumite Empire, a major Red Sea power that minted its own coinage and embraced Christianity under King Ezana in the 4th century. They delve into the legendary Queen of Sheba, the construction of Lalibela's rock-hewn churches, and the Zagwe dynasty's architectural marvels. The show covers the Solomonic restoration under Yekuno Amlak, the rise of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church, and the epic struggle against Imam Ahmad ibn Ibrahim al-Ghazi (the 'Gran') in the 16th century. The modern era includes Emperor Tewodros II, the Battle of Adwa where Ethiopia defeated Italy in 1896, and Haile Selassie's modernization efforts. Lucas and Luna also unpack the Derg's communist revolution, the devastating 1984 famine, and contemporary Ethiopia's ethnic federalism. Why does this ancient empire endure? The answer lies in its unique script, Ge'ez liturgy, and a tradition of independence that made it the only African nation to resist full colonization. Join Lucas and Luna as they uncover the layers of a civilization that has survived empires, plagues, and revolutions—and still shapes the Horn of Africa today.#Ethiopia #AksumiteEmpire #Lalibela #QueenOfSheba #SolomonicDynasty #BattleOfAdwa #HaileSelassie #EthiopianOrthodox #ZagweDynasty #Ezana #Derg #GeEzx #HornOfAfrica #RiseAndFall #AfricanHistory #AncientKingdom #History #FexingoHistoryKeep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
