Birds, Illustrated by Color Photography was a beloved monthly publication from the Nature Study Publishing Company in Chicago, running from 1897 to 1907. This enchanting magazine features a delightful blend of short poems, anecdotes, and factual descriptions about birds, beautifully complemented by stunning color plates. Originally published under various titles like Birds, Birds and all Nature, and Nature and Art, it expanded to encompass animals, plants, and more in later volumes. As noted in the Preface of Volume 1, Issue 1, Of all animated nature, birds are the most beautiful in coloring, most graceful in form and action, and most perfect emblems of freedom. This publication aims to inspire a love for birds among children, providing them with engaging insights into their habits and characteristics, making it a treasure for both young readers and progressive parents alike.
