In this captivating tale, Russell draws from his own experiences as a merchant seaman to weave the fictional narrative of Paul Rodney, a daring captain who stumbles upon an icebound vessel in the treacherous waters of the South Atlantic while commanding a pirate ship. Renowned as one of the finest English writers of maritime fiction, Russells work is often likened to the masterpieces of American literary giants like Melville and Dana. - Summary by Lynne Thompson
