"Challenge of the Yukon" was a radio drama series that aired from 1938 to 1955 and followed the adventures of Sergeant William Preston of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and his trusty canine companion, Yukon King. The show was set in the Yukon Territory during the 1890s Gold Rush, and often featured Preston and Yukon King solving crimes and helping those in need.

The TV show starred Richard Simmons as Sergeant Preston and Yukon King as himself and followed a similar format to the radio show. The popularity of the TV series led to a surge in demand for sled dogs as pets, as well as a renewed interest in the history and culture of the Yukon Territory.
